Four years after breaking ground, not a factory in sight - Galas rep
Galas assemblyperson Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim has questioned the delay in the construction of Bandar Perabot Gua Musang, saying the project has not borne fruit even though the groundbreaking ceremony was four years ago.
He said the developer had also been given 2,889 acres (about 1169ha) of land for forest exploration, in addition to the 141ha to build a factory in Bandar Perabot.
Galas assemblyperson Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim has questioned the delay in the construction of Bandar Perabot Gua Musang, saying the project has not borne fruit even though the groundbreaking ceremony was four years ago.
He said the developer had also been given 2,889 acres (about 1,169ha) of land for forest exploration, in addition to the 141ha to build a factory in Bandar Perabot.
“My question is, did the approval of the 2889-acre Forest Farm Project to MCkift Management Committee Sdn Bhd as part of the Kelantan state government’s joint venture commitment enable this Bandar Perabot to become a reality?
“I really hope it becomes a reality sooner or later and I am a little concerned as a representative of the people of Galas in Gua Musang, if the Bandar Perabot fails but the Forest Farm Project is the only one that becomes a reality.
“As a Kelantan opposition assemblyperson, I want the state government to answer this directly and I emphasise here that I play role of checks and balances against the Kelantan government,” he said at a press conference in Bukit Cekati, Gua Musang, today.

The Galas representative is the only BN assemblyperson in Kelantan’s state assembly, which has 45 seats.
Delayed by Covid-19
Syahbuddin said he once raised the matter at the state assembly and the government informed him that the delay was caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
He claimed that the Kelantan sultan had also twice instructed for the development of projects that can provide employment opportunities to the local community.
The Bandar Perabot construction project is located in the Gua Musang industrial area.
Commenting further, Syahbuddin said he found through the environmental impact assessment review that there were three land approvals for forest plantations.
“I took the opportunity to ask about this issue at length through a press conference because I realised the limited space I was given during the Kelantan state assembly session to clearly state this matter,” he added.
According to him, the road to the project area has not even been paved.
Syahbuddin said he supports the construction of Bandar Perabot because it would provide job opportunities for 1,500 workers.
