Mahkota: Chegubard admits BN candidate’s case classified as NFA

MAHKOTA BY-ELECTION | Badrul Hisham Shaharin admitted tonight that he was informed that the police investigation against BN candidate Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah had been classified as no further action.

The Bersatu information committee member insisted that the document with the details of Syed Hussien’s arrest confirms the matter.

“The investigation related to the case showed that what I exposed last night was actually referred to the deputy public prosecutor, but the deputy public prosecutor’s office said there would be no further action, do you understand?

“It said the case really happened; otherwise, why did the police refer it to the deputy public prosecutor’s office?

“Don’t tell me they wanted to refer to a blank piece of paper,” Barul, better known as Chegubard, told the crowd during a Perikatan Nasional ceramah in Taman Sri Kluang tonight.

Earlier today, Kluang police chief Bahrin Mohd Nor dismissed allegations that Syed Hussien has a criminal record, saying checks turned up no such history.

This follows a social media post by Chegubard, who claimed that the candidate had a criminal history linked to an alleged fight.

At the same time, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Syed Hussien was defending a visually impaired individual and was not detained by the police over the alleged fight.

But Chegubard responded to Zahid with sarcasm, saying that the OKU (orang kurang upaya) involved in the matter must stand for “orang kuat Umno” (Umno supporter).

Besides that, Chegubard made fun of Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi.

“I don’t want to attack with words over issues, but if I wanted to, I would say that Puad has a ‘short tongue’.

“But what I said just now is not what I do not want to say,” he said in mock piety.

This was over Puad’s response to Bersatu lodging a police report against a recent BN visit to China on allegations of spreading communism.

Yesterday, Johor Bersatu chairperson Sahruddin Jamal told reporters that his coalition is worried that a recent trip to China by BN representatives could spread communism among Umno members and the Johor state assembly, where Puad is the speaker.

The police report was based on Puad’s recent Facebook posts, including one in which the latter visited the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Beijing Municipal Party Committee School, where CCP cadres are trained.

Puad later called Sahruddin “stupid” as the visit was to commemorate 50 years of Malaysia-China relations.

He argued that the visit included valuable discussions on modernisation and leadership training, not ideological indoctrination.

But Chegubard replied tonight by saying that exercises to maintain diplomatic relations are very different to what the BN leaders did on their China trip.

Syed Hussien faces Perikatan Nasional’s Mohd Haizan Jaafar in a straight fight for Mahkota on Sept 28.

The by-election was called following the death of the incumbent from Umno, Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain, on Aug 2.
