Former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin has again criticised the Pakatan Harapan-led federal government over its purported failure to address the shortage of local rice.
He said such an issue would not be prolonged if Perikatan Nasional came into power.
“The issue of local rice supply going missing has not been solved until this day. But surprisingly, the product would suddenly be available at (government-organised) Rahmah programmes.
“People had been asking where the local rice supply had gone but until this day, this question has gone unanswered.
“If PN gets in power, perhaps in just one month, we would have solved this problem,” Muhyiddin said in an interview with Sinar Harian, which was published on Facebook this afternoon.

The PN chairperson made the remarks when he was responding to a question posed by programme host Mohd Fazli Zainul Abidin over the opposition being seen as weak.
To this, Muhyiddin denied the notion, saying PN has been playing its role as the opposition by voicing out issues for the rakyat, including the rising cost of living.
However, he said, it was the government that failed to listen and address the problems.
Muhyiddin also further cast doubt on the government’s efforts to address the issue of local rice supply.
“What is happening? Is the government working in cahoots with the (rice) manufacturers and distributors?
“What is the government doing? There has been no solution to this day. This is an example (of the issues PN raised).
“(Who says) we did not speak up? We have been speaking up all the time. But because the government is weak... it’s unfair to link the government’s weakness to the opposition,” he said.
People’s anger to be revealed in GE16
During the interview, Muhyiddin said he believed the people’s anger over Putrajaya’s failure to address their problems would be felt in the next general election.
He suggested that their frustration, coupled with the Malays’ distrust of DAP, would result in favourable outcomes for PN.

“Do you think the Umno people who voted for Umno before would continue to support them?
“They have seen the effects from (Umno) working with DAP. Their attitude and intervention have caused concerns among many Malays and Muslims.
“They (DAP) are already in power, and with the power in their hands, they have used their position to influence (the government) to follow their policy, which, as we know, is not aligned with the policies held by Bersatu or PAS or Umno, and that of the Malays.
“I think when the time comes for the election, this will be reflected (in the polling results),” Muhyiddin said.
