Harris takes first lead in swing state Michigan - poll

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has taken the lead over her Republican rival Donald Trump in the swing state of Michigan, which will also determine the outcome of the election for the first time in two months, reported Sputnik.

A new phone and online poll by Rasmussen Reports and conservative publication American Thinker showed that if the election were held today, 49 percent of likely voters in Michigan would vote for Harris (above), and 48 percent would vote for Trump, while one percent said they would vote for another candidate, and two percent are undecided.

In the latest Michigan poll, published on Oct 17, the candidates were tied at 48 percent. The same result was in September, Rasmussen noted.

The survey was conducted among 908 likely voters from Oct 24 to Nov 1. The margin of error is three percentage points, according to Sputnik.

CNN has called it a “tight race” with new state polling showing a close race in “blue wall” states, with a slight tilt toward Harris in Michigan and Wisconsin, and a tie in Pennsylvania. The candidates remain deadlocked nationwide.

“Trump is no longer leading in Iowa, according to a new Des Moines Register and Mediacom poll. The new poll suggests there is no clear leader in the state, which Trump carried in 2016 and 2020,” it added.

According to Tribune Co this was a “startling reversal”.

“Democrats and Republicans have all but written off the state’s presidential contest as a certain Trump victory.

“A new Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll shows Harris leading Trump 47 percent to 44 percent among likely voters just days before a high-stakes election that appears deadlocked in key battleground states,” it added.

The US presidential election will take place on Nov 5.
