PAS Youth claims govt turning blind eye to cyberbullying aimed at PN

PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden has accused the government of ignoring cyberbullying against pro-Perikatan Nasional influencers to “kill off” the coalition.

Referring to an incident involving Malacca PAS women's wing information chief Hawa Yaakub, he said the PAS influencer faced severe cyberbullying.

"Hawa from Malacca was badly cyberbullied, with people questioning everything about her. What she wore, what she brought, everything was scrutinised.

"These cyberbullying actions appear to be ignored by the government as a means to kill off PN.

"However, the more they 'kill' us, the more people stand with us, and our presence grows even stronger in mainstream social media,” he said at an event with pro-PN influencers in Bangi last night.

"Their attempts to kill us have failed. Everyone must understand this - the risk of cyberbullying is high among our influencers," he added.

In late August, Hawa came under fire for claiming that some Malaysians were dying of hunger from a shortage of local rice under the Madani administration.

She was then mocked for carrying a Louis Vuitton bag.

Defend PAS influencers

Afnan stressed last night the need for PAS to back their influencers with moral and legal support.

"How long can our influencers endure this? They also have feelings and emotions.

"I believe PAS should consider providing moral support and legal assistance to help our influencers face legal challenges and prepare mentally.

"Our influencers need proper management because we are gearing up for battle in three years, and we don’t know what will happen," the Alor Setar MP said, referring to preparations for the 16th general election.
