Warisan Youth: Will Harapan-BN pact land Hajiji in court?

Warisan Youth is teasing the Pakatan Harapan-BN alliance for the upcoming Sabah state election as a fatal blow to Chief Minister Hajiji Noor.

Wing chief Terence Au said that the alliance could see Hajiji - who has been accused of involvement in a corruption scandal related to mineral exploration licences - being dragged to court soon.

“All Malaysians, especially Sabahans, want to know what message the federal government under Harapan and BN leadership is sending with the decision to leave GRS.

“Will there be any arrests involving Hajiji, the state assembly speaker, and the eight GRS assemblypersons allegedly involved in the corruption scandal?

“It is highly likely those involved in the corruption scandal will be charged in court soon,” he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, Harapan and BN jointly announced a pact for the upcoming Sabah polls.

It is not clear whether Harapan is still trying to work out a deal with GRS, but Hajiji said his coalition is prepared to contest the election solo.

‘Begged for cooperation’

Au alleged that Hajiji had previously begged for cooperation with Harapan to obtain protection over the corruption scandal plaguing his administration.

“However, he still failed to achieve his objective.

“All Sabahans are awaiting the next developments. We hope that the 10 assemblypersons, including Hajiji, who are alleged to have committed corruption and abuse of power, will receive appropriate punishment,” he said.

The MACC, on April 29, stated that the forensic report regarding a video alleging corruption involving several assemblypersons in Sabah related to mineral mining licence issues is expected within a week.

MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki said they are conducting a thorough review of all 10 video clips submitted by a whistleblower concerning the corruption scandal.

In addition to the video recordings, the whistleblower also disclosed numerous WhatsApp messages of conversations with the assemblypersons allegedly involved in the scandal.

The whistleblower accused the assemblypersons of receiving bribes from him in exchange for mineral exploration licences.

Hajiji has denied the corruption allegations against him and described them as part of a campaign to bring down his administration.

Sabah must hold its state election by December this year at the latest.
