Rafizi unfazed despite cease and desist letter from Farhash

Former economy minister Rafizi Ramli has received a letter of demand from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s former aide, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak.

However, the PKR lawmaker stated that he will not back down and is prepared to defend himself in court.

“I confirm receiving a letter on Aug 22 from law firm Ahmad Deniel, Ruben & Co, representing Farhash.

“The cease and desist letter demands I refrain from making any more statements (about Farhash) and tender an apology over a statement I made about a whistleblower I met, where it was about a business deal linked to Farhash,” Rafizi (above) said in a statement today.

The Pandan MP insists his statement was factual, adding that he has engaged law firm Gan, Ho & Razlan Hadri for further action on the matter.

“In my view, if Farhash takes me to court, it will become a matter of public interest, which would allow my counsel to ask questions that have been brought up by many quarters earlier,” he said.

Attack on son

On Aug 20, Rafizi revealed that the meeting he had with a whistleblower - just before his son was attacked on Aug 13 - centred on Farhash.

He hinted that the assault, where his 12-year-old son was stabbed with a syringe at a Putrajaya mall car park, may have been a direct consequence of that meeting.

Rafizi provided additional details about the meeting after several quarters had attempted to link the attack to former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin, under the claim that he was investigating cases tied to them.

The former PKR deputy president slammed this as a “malicious attempt to divert attention”.

Farhash had also denied any links to the attack on Rafizi’s son.
