The Consumer Association of Penang (CAP) has defended a recent forum and book launch celebrating the late SM Idris, founder of the organisation.

In a statement yesterday, Idris’ brother, Mohideen Abdul Kader, who heads the organisation, said the event, which Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim attended, was a sincere celebration of Idris' legacy.
