'Glamping With Pride': Cops confirm 5 reports, probe ongoing

The police have confirmed a probe against the upcoming “Glamping With Pride” LGBTQ+ community programme in Hulu Langat scheduled for next weekend.
Kajang district police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said investigations are being carried out under Section 504 of the Penal Code, which criminalises intentional insults that provoke a breach of the peace.
“This programme is believed to potentially cause social problems and violate moral norms.
“To date, the Kajang district police have received five police reports related to the same complaint,” said Naazron, citing reports lodged based on an online poster that promoted the event organised by NGO, Jejaka.
The case is also being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which provides imprisonment of up to one (1) year, or a fine of up to RM50,000.00, or both.
“The public is advised to always uphold proper conduct and not engage in acts that deliberately bring shame with the intent of inciting a breach of the peace.
“Firm action in accordance with the law will also be taken if such activities are continued,” said Naazon.
Earlier today, the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) and Islamic Development Department (Jakim) had separately issued statements against the community event, describing it as an attempt to “normalise LGBT culture” and promote a “deviant” lifestyle.
Yesterday, Selangor Islamic affairs and cultural innovation executive councillor Fahmi Ngah said police have been ordered to monitor the programme and take enforcement action if any illegal elements are found.
Jejaka, the NGO behind the event, announced that it would proceed with the two-day community-based retreat focused on wellbeing, peer support, and health awareness.
