• The top leaders of Pakatan Harapan and Umno, at a meeting tonight, have resolved to continue cooperating in the coalition government in Negeri Sembilan.

  “The Umno-Harapan leadership consultative council also agreed to ensure that any Negeri Sembilan government decisions that could raise sensitivities or open room for conflict must be referred immediately to the Umno-Harapan leadership consultative council,” they said in a joint statement.

  Harapan secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki issued the statement, following a meeting led by Harapan chairperson Anwar Ibrahim and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

  According to Bernama earlier, the meeting took place at the Sri Perdana Complex in Putrajaya and lasted from 5.15pm to 6.20pm, during which preparations for the Malacca and Johor state elections were also discussed.

• A Sungai Ujong lineage leader has rejected the proclamation by a group of elders appointing Faris Johari as the territory's new undang to replace disputed chieftain Mubarak Thahak.

  Sazali Yasin, who holds the title of "Dato Andulika Mandalika", in a statement claimed that the elders who made the proclamation earlier today have been sacked from their positions and no longer hold any authority to make any decision on Sungai Ujong customary matters.

  

  According to him, the supposed "Council of Dato' Lembaga Adat" that announced the proclamation was also allegedly illegal and not recognised by the Negeri Sembilan's Council of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar and the Ruling Chiefs' (Dewan Keadilan dan Undang).

  "We would like to once again stress that as the Dato'-Dato' Lembaga Adat for Sungai Ujong, we pledge our loyalty to the Dato' Klana Petra Mubarak Thahak as the legitimate Sungai Ujong undang," Sazali said.

Corruption

• Former economy minister Rafizi Ramli’s questioning by the MACC will enter its third day tomorrow afternoon, The Star reported.

  The report quoted MACC senior director of investigations Hafaz Nazar saying that Rafizi’s questioning today lasted from about 10am to 7pm, which is approximately nine hours.

  Rafizi is being investigated over the government’s RM1.1 billion deal with the semiconductor firm Arm Holdings.
