• DAP veteran Tony Pua had harsh words for elected representatives planning to join Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) but would not vacate their seats immediately.

  “Others who actually have the gall to express their intent to stand against their own party in the next general election, but do not want to quit/vacate their seats are just ball-less, self-serving chickens who can't bear to lose the remaining months of their MP allowance,” he said on Facebook today.

  

  Without naming names, he said voters should reject such politicians regardless of which party they contest for.

  Pua said he also disagreed with Bersama leaders Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad’s position, but commended them for doing the right thing by quitting as MPs.

• Earlier, Subang MP Wong Chen had indicated his intention to eventually leave PKR for Bersama but stopped short of saying whether he will vacate his seat before the dissolution of the Dewan Rakyat.

  "If I decide to stand in the next general election, it will be as a Bersama candidate," he said, as quoted by the Scoop.

  

  His remarks echoed Rafizi’s previous remarks, who evaded disciplinary action from PKR despite stating an intent to contest the next general election outside the party.

  Wong was among the six other PKR lawmakers present during an event yesterday, where Rafizi and Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad announced their decision to move to Bersama and vacate their seats.

• Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh assured Setiawangsa residents that services under her purview will continue without disruption, following Nik Nazmi’s move to resign as the MP for the constituency.

  

  Thanking the former PKR vice-president for his service in a statement today, Yeoh said she has requested Kuala Lumpur mayor Fadlun Mak Ujud to support efforts to address local issues in the area, including by allocating additional manpower.

  The DAP lawmaker added that she will work with all stakeholders to continue endeavours to save and preserve Bukit Dinding as a recreational spot and green lung.
