Agong’s birthday 

  • Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim conveyed his congratulations and prayers to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar in conjunction with His Majesty’s official birthday celebration today.

    In a Facebook post, Anwar said that, on behalf of the government and all Malaysians, he prayed for His Majesty, Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah and the entire royal family to be blessed with good health, longevity, and the continued protection and blessings of Allah.

    “May His Majesty continue to reign with justice and wisdom, and uphold the highest office under the Federal Constitution in line with the role of the royal institution as the protector of Islam and a symbol of unity, harmony and well-being of all races in this country.

    “I, and the rakyat, will continue to express our unwavering loyalty to the constitutional monarchy. Long live Your Majesty,” he said.

  • Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim also conveyed his greetings and prayers to his father.

    “Allah peliharakan sultan (Allah protect the sultan), Tuanku,” said Tunku Ismail in a brief message addressed to the king shared on the Johor crown prince’s Facebook page.

    Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi extended his heartfelt congratulations and prayers to the king as well.

    “I humbly extend my highest greetings and congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim in conjunction with His Majesty’s official birthday celebration today.

    “I, and the entire Bangsa Johor, offer our deepest respects. May Allah protect the sultan and bless Johor,” he said in a Facebook post.

Johor DAP 

  • Skudai assemblyperson Marina Ibrahim has reportedly declined to confirm a May 30 letter she purportedly sent to Johor DAP chairperson Teo Nie Ching, before announcing her move to resign from active politics at the upcoming election. 

    New Straits Times quoted Marina as saying that she had shared “the letter” in a DAP state WhatsApp group, but declined to confirm the authenticity of a purported copy leaked online yesterday.

    “I don’t want to think about it now because it is giving me a headache. All I want to do now is rest so that I can wake up tomorrow and continue helping the people,” she said.

    The letter purportedly showed Marina rejecting an offer to leave Skudai and contest the Tiram state seat, as well as an alleged proposal that she be appointed to a government-linked entity should she fail to win.

  • Umno supreme council member Puad Zarkashi has questioned Johor DAP’s purported “GLC role” offer to Marina.

    “DAP often criticises others for making political appointments in GLCs. To DAP, it is unethical, unprofessional and not reformist.

    “But DAP is worse. The offer was made before winning an election,” he claimed in a Facebook post. 

Budi95 error

  • The Finance Ministry has clarified that the 150-litre monthly Budi95 limit displayed to some users during system maintenance at 11pm last night was due to a technical error, which has been resolved.

    “The quota remains at 200 litres for eligible users, including for June,” the MOF said in a statement, according to Bernama. 

    The ministry said it remains committed to the smooth and orderly rollout of Budi95, ensuring subsidies are delivered to eligible recipients.

    “Any confusion arising from the error is deeply regretted,” it added.
