  • Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar ordered all political leaders to uphold proper conduct and decorum, and to exercise caution when making public statements, Bernama reported.

    Sultan Ibrahim said politicians should refrain from provoking sensitive issues, especially ahead of election periods, which often serve as platforms for individuals to seek prominence and win public support.

    “Avoid provocation and disputes over sensitive issues relating to the royalty, race and religion, as they can arouse public anger,” he said in his royal address at the investiture ceremony for Federal awards, honours and medals, held in conjunction with the king's official birthday celebration at Istana Negara today.

  • Chief Justice Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh headed the list of 144 recipients of federal awards, medals, and honours conferred today.

    Wan Ahmad Farid, 63, who was appointed the country's 17th chief justice on July 28 last year, was the sole recipient of the Darjah Seri Setia Mahkota, which carries the title “Tun”.

    National track cycling champion Azizulhasni Awang was conferred the Darjah Bakti for his outstanding achievement and contributions to cycling and for elevating Malaysia's standing on the world stage.

Deviant group 

  • Authorities arrested 300 people during a raid on a school hall in Likas, Kota Kinabalu, over alleged involvement in activities linked to a deviant group.

    Kota Kinabalu acting police chief Syed Lot Syed Abdul Rahman said the joint operation by the Sabah Islamic Religious Affairs Department and police follows a public complaint.

    “Checks found that the programme in question was linked to the Ahmadiyah Qadiani group, which was declared deviant and contrary to Islamic teachings by the Sabah State Fatwa Council Committee and gazetted in 2007,” he said, according to Sinar Harian. 

    The 300 individuals comprise 12 movement leaders and organisers, as well as 288 congregation members. 

    The case is being investigated under Section 52(1), Section 52A and Section 102 of the Sabah State Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment 1995.

Southern Tigers roar

  • Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has expressed gratitude after Johor Darul Ta'zim FC (JDT) completed a fourth consecutive domestic quadruple title in the 2025/26 season.

    The Southern Tigers sealed the achievement by beating Kuching City 2-0 in the Malaysia Cup final on May 23, adding the trophy to their Super League and other domestic honours.

    In a Facebook post, the JDT owner thanked all involved in the club's continued success.

    JDT also retained the Super League title for a 12th straight season since 2014, adding to its six Malaysia Cup titles, including a record four consecutive triumphs from 2022 to 2025/26, and five FA Cup titles.
