SNAPSHOT | Rauf says Malacca polls likely in September; LRT3 to begin operating on June 29

State election

• Malacca Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh said a state election could be called in September after the completion of the Johor and Negeri Sembilan polls.

  Buletin TV3 quoted him as saying today that prior to an official announcement on the dissolution of the state legislature, the state administration will continue to carry out government business and serve the rakyat as per usual.

  Rauf (above) also pointed out that the Malacca state election must be held this year as part of democratic processes, with state speaker Ibrahim Durum noting that the current assembly’s term ends on Dec 27.

Transport

• The LRT3 line connecting Shah Alam and its surrounding areas is set to begin operations on Monday (June 29), with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim scheduled to attend an official launch ceremony the day prior.

  Transport Minister Anthony Loke affirmed the matter when speaking to reporters today.

  

  Spanning 37.8km, the LRT3 runs from Bandar Utama to Johan Setia in Klang, and is expected to benefit around two million residents.
