Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin’s arrival at the Perikatan Nasional supreme council meeting tonight drew much attention amid the coalition’s internal crisis.

The former PN chairperson and present Bersatu president arrived at the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur at about 8.30pm, accompanied by Bersatu vice-president Ahmad Faizal Azumu, Bersatu Women chief Nolee Ashilin Radzi, and Bersatu Youth chief Hilman Idham.

Also present were newly minted PN chairperson and PAS vice-president Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, PN election director Sanusi Nor, Gerakan president Dominic Lau, and PAS working committee member Annuar Musa.

The meeting is expected to discuss issues concerning PN's component parties, as well as the use of the PN logo, ahead of the upcoming Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections.

At the PAS headquarters, more than 100 party supporters gathered to show support for PN’s decision tonight.

Ready to be axed

At the Johor Bersatu election machinery launch last night, Muhyiddin signalled that Bersatu is prepared to be forced out of PN at the coalition’s meeting tonight.

Dressed in PN blue to signify that Bersatu is still a coalition member, Muhyiddin said the party’s commitment to the coalition is unquestionable.

“People ask me, are you still with PN? Of course, we will be with PN forever.

“But there’s supposedly noise that they want to oust us, oust us from the home we built. Is this wise?” he asked in his speech.

Bersatu’s PN membership has been at risk since PN lynchpin PAS cut ties with the party earlier this month.

PAS has since openly embraced a Bersatu splinter faction led by former Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin, who now heads a rebranded multiracial Wawasan Negara party.

Samsuri has said that a final decision on the coalition’s membership will be made tonight.
