• Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Azalina Othman Said said any list of former MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki’s shares cannot be publicly disclosed.

  She told Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung that the data is part of investigation documents, while personal information and asset declarations are protected by law.

  

  “However, the government assures that all relevant aspects, including share ownership and compliance with the regulations in force, have been examined in the investigation and appropriate action has been taken based on the findings of the committee,” she said in a parliamentary written reply.

  Any public announcements on the matter will be made by the chief secretary to the government’s office, Azalina added.

• Azalina said any decision on setting up a royal commission of inquiry to investigate the "corporate mafia" allegations would be made based on the legal process and the findings from ongoing investigations.

  She also said the government remained open to considering its establishment, or any other appropriate mechanism if deemed necessary in the public interest.

  In a written parliamentary reply to Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng, Azalina mentioned that the establishment of an RCI was subject to the provisions of the Commissions of Enquiry Act 1950.

  She said the process begins with the lead ministry handling matters of serious public interest, preparing a cabinet memorandum, which is then submitted by the prime minister for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's consideration, upon cabinet approval.
