Review ties with BN, S'gor PKR Youth tells state Harapan

Selangor PKR Youth wants the state Pakatan Harapan leadership to review its political ties with BN, saying the time has come for the coalition to make a wise decision based on reality.

Its deputy chief, Shahrul Adnan, pointed out in a statement today BN’s decision to fight Harapan in the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections.

“If BN is free to work with Perikatan Nasional against Harapan in Johor and Negeri Sembilan, why does Harapan have to treat its cooperation with BN as something that cannot be questioned?

“Political cooperation must be based on mutual respect, trust, and commitment. It cannot shift with the electoral season or be dictated by short-term political interests,” he said.

Shahrul stressed that the call was not intended to shake the stability of the federal unity government or the Selangor administration.

Instead, he added, it is to urge the Harapan leadership to do an honest reflection on its cooperation with BN.

“The time has come for Selangor Harapan to review whether its cooperation with BN remains relevant, benefits the coalition’s struggle, and is in line with the aspirations of its supporters and the people of Selangor,” Shahrul said.

The youth leader’s statement came on the heels of BN’s increasingly strained ties with Harapan, following its decision to enter an electoral pact with Perikatan Nasional in the Negeri Sembilan state election.

Under the arrangement, BN and PN have agreed to support each other’s candidates across all 36 state constituencies against Harapan, despite BN remaining a component of the Harapan-led federal government.
