Anwar’s advice 

• Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today reminded that Malaysia will not become a great and developed nation if its people remain trapped in outdated thinking that sows hatred against one another.

  Anwar urged Malaysians, particularly young people, to reject hateful and racial politics.

  “Young people must rise as one giant force, bringing change and uplifting the dignity of all the people in this country,” he said when officiating at the National Training Week 2026 closing ceremony at Universiti Teknologi Mara’s Permatang Pauh campus.

  Also present were Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Human Resources Minister R Ramanan.

N Sembilan polls 

• Umno vice-president Khaled Nordin has stressed that BN and Perikatan Nasional’s cooperation in the Negeri Sembilan state election was not a formal coalition.

  “It is an understanding, not a coalition. That is very, very different. The understanding we have implemented at this stage is to avoid clashes.

  “That is why these parties can hold differing views. There is no problem, because we are not in a coalition. Do not be confused about this,” he said, according to Berita Harian, after officiating Umno’s Pasir Gudang division meeting today. 

  

  Responding to PAS’ suggestion that the cooperation could continue beyond the state election, Khaled said its future remained uncertain.

  “For now, the understanding applies to the Negeri Sembilan state election, but how far and where it will go, we will see... time will tell,” he said.

• A total of 322 of 345 applications for ceramah and political campaign activities during the state polls were approved between July 18 and yesterday.

  State police chief Alzafny Ahmad said police monitored all approved programmes to ensure they complied with the law and did not threaten public safety or order.

  During the same period, police received 16 reports and opened 11 investigation papers.

  One investigation paper was opened yesterday for committing mischief by fire and another for issuing or circulating a statement that may cause public mischief, he added.
