Zahid's axe falls on rebels

BN unveiled its candidates for the 15th general election last night.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi appeared to have used the opportunity to axe MPs not aligned with him.

Among the nine who were chopped included Shahidan Kassim and Annuar Musa.

Curiously, Zahid also didn't announce candidates for six seats - of which one is Noh Omar's Tanjong Karang.

Several candidates were shifted from their support bases, notably Khairy Jamaluddin, who is being sent to Sungai Buloh, and Umno vice-president Khaled Nordin moving to the relatively safer Kota Tinggi seat.

However, rebels in Umno aren't the only problem for Zahid as MIC is also considering withdrawing from GE15.

Muda's hunt for ministers

Muda's election campaign is shaping up to be a hunt for ministers and deputy ministers.

The youth party is contesting in seats with minister incumbents, including Kepala Batas and Kota Marudu.

They'll also be clashing with a deputy minister in Tanjong Piai, and possibly Alor Gajah - if they get the seat.

Harapan firefighting on multiple fronts

Pakatan Harapan is fighting fires lit by both its rivals and allies.

Dissent from Amanah over seat allocation spread from Kedah to Johor.

PKR's decision not to cede Sungai Siput to PSM is also meeting pushback.

Meanwhile, Gerakan Tanah Air is claiming that something fishy is going on between Anwar Ibrahim and Zahid Hamidi.
