PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu have both indicated that a change in federal government might follow the six state elections.
This is in the event of a major Perikatan Nasional victory at the polls.
Faizal said that if such a change does happen, it would not violate anti-hopping laws, suggesting a political realignment at the party level.
All parties and coalitions that are part of the federal government signed an agreement last December that in a vote of confidence, they would vote to keep the government in power.
Meanwhile, Bersatu pioneer Muhammad Faiz Na’aman - who previously had tongues wagging over a numbers game - has quit the party.
He had been dissatisfied that Bersatu fielded state election candidates who had lost during GE15.

MACC seeks Muhyiddin’s son-in-law
The MACC is on the hunt for two individuals to assist in investigations into a project regarding the registration and storage of biometric information for foreign workers.
One of them is Muhammad Adlan Berhan, 48, who is Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin's son-in-law.
The MACC said both men had left the country in May, and that there is no record of them coming back.
In February, Muhyiddin denied allegations that Adlan or any of his family members were involved in Iris Corporation Bhd, which won the National Integrated Immigration System (NIISE).
The contract - which Muhyiddin said was handled by the Finance Ministry through open tender - was awarded in March 2021 and was valued at RM1.2 billion.

Sanusi lawsuits aplenty
Kedah caretaker menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has sued Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail for defamation.
This is over Saifuddin’s remarks alleging Sanusi’s involvement in illegal rare earth mining in Kedah.
Moments after news broke of the lawsuit, Berjaya Group founder Vincent Tan’s lawyers released a statement threatening to sue Sanusi over a separate matter
This is after the Kedah caretaker menteri besar accused his Selangor counterpart Amirudin Shari and Tan of improprieties in regards to a Sungai Klang river cleaning project.
Tan is demanding an apology, which Sanusi has refused to comply with.
Instead, he claimed that more documents will be revealed to prove his claims.
Amirudin has also moved to sue Sanusi on the matter.
