Non-politician arrested for racism
Police arrested - and later released on bail - a corn seller who had used a slur against Indians in marketing his business.
Prior to the arrest, the seller had apologised over his insensitivity.
The incident had united unlikely bed-fellows, DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng and Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh, in calling for action to be taken against the petty trader.
Meanwhile, politicians who fan racial, religious tensions, and engage in race-baiting remain at large.

PN plays Chinese business card
In an attempt to court Chinese voters, Perikatan Nasional secretary-general Azmin Ali is painting the coalition as being business friendly.
He highlighted a recent meeting between PN leaders with the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) to demonstrate its support for Chinese business owners.
During the meeting, FMM president Soh Thian Lai reportedly thanked coalition chief Muhyiddin Yassin for saving the economy during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Azmin said if Chinese voters give PN a chance, they can save the Selangor economy too.

Desperate bid to save Pannir Selvam
Politicians and activists are making desperate pleas for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to save Pannir Selvam Pranthaman from being executed in Singapore this Thursday (Feb 20).
Pannir was convicted in 2017 for acting as a drug courier.
Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh expressed hope that Pannir would instead be allowed to return to Malaysia to serve his prison sentence while providing information to assist investigations related to his case.
It is not clear if Anwar or his cabinet is making diplomatic efforts to save Pannir.
Anwar's predecessor, Ismail Sabri Yaakob, had notably tried to get Singapore to grant clemency to Nagaenthran Dharmalingam, who was also executed over drug-related charges.
