'Urgent' movements in JAC
All eyes are on the Judicial Appointments Committee (JAC) after the chief justice and Court of Appeal president posts fell vacant when the office bearers were not given a six-month extension.
One day after being appointed as acting chief justice, judge Hasnah Hashim reportedly called for an urgent meeting.
The Mahathir-linked Defend the Judiciary Secretariat said Hasnah, who is due to retire in November after serving out her six-month extension, had violated a 10-day notice rule for JAC meetings.
They also questioned whether Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is exerting influence on judicial appointments.
The developments within the JAC come amid unresolved concerns that a senior judge was quizzed by the JAC over allegations of judicial interference.

PN HQ drama exposes factions
Questions about whether Perikatan Nasional's headquarters was closed exposed factionalism within key component party Bersatu.
The office was reportedly closed for months, and despite the coalition still having regular meetings, Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin - who is also a PN deputy chairperson - claimed to be in the dark about the office's status.
Meanwhile, leaders aligned with Hamzah pointed fingers at his replacement as Bersatu and PN secretary-general Azmin Ali.
Azmin said the office closed because their lease ended, but that the PN headquarters is still operating from a temporary location.
