Harapan buying time against blue tsunami
Pakatan Harapan appears to be buying time in order to counter Madani partner BN’s blatant desire to oust it from power.
Harapan communications director Fahmi Fadzil said a general election will not be called soon to allow the government to fix the economy.
However, time will also allow for more investigations into the Tabung Haji scandal after the government sat on the royal commission of inquiry report for four years.
If a case linked to Umno’s time overseeing the haj fund can be made, and if cost of living and quality of life can be improved, this could give Harapan a means to limit the damage brought by the “Malay unity” tsunami being propelled by BN and Perikatan Nasional.

Tiong rains fire over drug smuggling
Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Tiong King Sing is bearing down hard on Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad over a drug smuggling case involving a Malaysia Airlines (MAS) pilot.
Tiong accused MAHB of being in denial about smuggling cases through Kuala Lumpur International Airport, an issue he claims to have raised since 2014.
Meanwhile, the minister also accused MAS of trying to downplay the smuggling issue involving its pilot.
He questioned why the airline stressed that the man was just a co-pilot observer who was not flying, rather than apologising and addressing his positive urine test.
Malaysia Aviation Group has, however, ordered mandatory drug screening for all MAS pilots in light of the incident.

Charges loom over Ismail Sabri
Charges are pending against former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
This is believed to relate to assets seized during an MACC probe into expenditure and procurement for promotional activities under his Keluarga Malaysia initiative.
He was supposed to be charged on Friday, but his day in court was postponed as he was in hospital.
He had developed heart complications after a fall last week, and had a pacemaker implanted on Friday.
