Ignore taunts on religion

Personally I think no one should use the excuse of freedom of expression to abuse other's belief, at least on religious matters. People are very sensitive towards religion-based discussions, always looking for items that may have been carelessly worded to make a big hue and cry.

It does not matter who is right or wrong once an offence has been perceived.

I strongly believe that if one subscribes to the universality of all religions, based on the all-powerful God Almighty, we should then ignore any blasphemous or silly words coming out from imbeciles who seek to insult the religion one professes to.

I am not saying that it is okay to insult a religion - no, it is not. No one should. But then again no one should also be corrupt or get involved in shady or immoral activities.

God can take care of himself/herself. The Almighty is all powerful so those who profess the faith according to their own belief need not worry about what others say. Let the uncultured and uncouth take potshots at our faith. We don't care as we have faith in our religion. Simple, isn't it?

We have enough problems in this world to resolve to get sidetracked by insulting each other's religion. Let all be comfortable with their own faith. But if some morons do not conform to rules of civility, just ignore them.

To give them the space and time by discussing it at length only encourages the morons to indulge more as they get to like the taste of the offence they cause to others. It is a bit like name calling when we were in school, ignoring it will make it stop quickly.

This may not be relevant but I will say it anyway. When I was in university, a professor once told my class: 'It is all right if people think you are stupid, as long as you are not'.

Therefore in the same frame, if I have a strong and unbreakable faith in my own religion, what others say do not matter.

In the meantime, it does help if we do not insult each other's faith. There are lot more issues out there that we should deal with.
