Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation exco Robert Phang has refuted Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim's claims linking him to the alleged Israeli involvement in the Royal Malaysian Police Force.

The PKR de-factor leader had alleged in Parliament on Tuesday that Israeli military intelligence agents, disguised as Asiasoft Malaysia employees, were once engaged to upgrade the police communications systems in 2008.

He also said Phang had lodged a report with then Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA), now named the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)) on the matter.

robert phang clarify on anwar allegation 080410 01 But speaking to reporters today, Phang ( left) said that the only report he lodged with ACA was to do with malpractice in the police logistics department, not Israeli infiltration.

"There is no connection (between the two), I don't know how (Anwar) came up with it. I believe he has been grossly misled...by his informants," he said.

He added that MACC had already handed over the malpractice case, which allegedly involved a RM98 million procurement and high-ranking officers, to the police for departmental action.

"The MACC did a thorough investigation and the conclusion was that there was no direct criminal evidence," he said.

Phang also rubbished allegations that his company was involved in the bid for the RM1 billion project involving the Israeli agents.

"(I have) nothing to do (with it). I too was trying to find a connection," he said.

He added that while he is "giving Anwar the benefit of the doubt", he will have to take legal action if the PKR de-facto leader continues to make such allegations about him.

When asked why MACC has not come forward to clear the air, he said: "They want to collect more information, because Anwar said there is more to come, so they want to wait.

"I cannot wait. I felt the need to speak as a citizen and as MACC's advisor. If I don't speak then people would say, 'Robert Phang isn't denying it, so MACC must be trying to cover up something'."
