Selangor PKR assemblyperson Shuhaimi Shafie was recalled by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today over its continuing probe into the illegal sand-mining controversy.

According to his lawyer Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, his client was questioned for three-and-a-half hours by investigating officer Suhaanuar Mohamad.

“This was a continuation of last week’s interrogation ,” he said. 

The Sri Muda assemblyperson was quizzed last week, also for three-and-a-half hours, along with Batu Caves assemblyperson Amiruddin Shaari.

While he could not reveal details, Shamsul said the officer had focused on eight issues.

NONE Based on this, he has reason to believe that the probe is meant to link Shuhaimi (right) and Amiruddin to the Selangor sand-mining case .

However, Shamsul is confident that the commission will not find evidence of any wrongdoing.

“After going through all the questions and answers of both the sessions, I can conclude that there are no elements to implicate my client in corrupt practices,” he said.

He said the officer had told them that the commission has finished questioning both Shuhaimi and Amiruddin.

“But we were told that both might be called again if the need arises. We will give our full cooperation, and thank the MACC officers for their professionalism,” he added.
