The deliberations at PAS’ divisional, Youth, Muslimat and Ulama meetings are expected to be fiery affairs as delegates discuss the party’s losses in the by-elections in Galas, Tenang, Kerdau and Merlimau.

According to PAS Youth secretary Khairul Faizi Ahmad Kamil, PAS Youth delegates should take the opportunity afforded by the wing’s divisional annual general meetings which started on Monday to discuss the party’s dismal performance at the polls.

pas muktamar agm 55 youth 040609 05 More particularly, Khairul Faizi told Malaysiakini , the wing’s divisional and state AGMs will culminate in a national-level muktamar (convention) which will serve to discuss two issues - "what happened, in terms of weaknesses, and what (strategies) should be adopted”.

The 165 youth divisions' AGMs will be held until April 18, followed by the wing’s state AGMs from April 23 April until the second week of May.

PAS Youth will then hold its muktamar and polls on June 1 and 2 in Taman Melewar, Selangor.

Pointing out that PAS Youth members will this year nominate candidates for its national leadership polls at the division AGMs instead of at the state-level meetings as done previously, Khairul Faizi said the elections will be “bigger and more challenging”.

pas wanita muslimat muktamar agm 55 040609 02 PAS Muslimat’s 150 divisions, meanwhile, started their AGMs today and will continue until April 18, followed by meetings at the state level.

Nominations for the Muslimat leadership will be made at the state level as well as at the wing’s national-level muktamar on June 1 and 2.

According to Muslimat secretary Kartini Ahmad, Muslimat chief Nuridah Salleh is expected to defend her post.

The party’s Ulama wing, similarly, will hold its state-level meetings throughout April and in May before their national-level muktamar on June 1 and 2.

PAS’ 179  division meetings will hold their meetings from March 15 until May 10, followed by the holding of its muktamar from June 3-5.
