Two PKR elected representatives fell victim to thieves over the weekend when their office and home were broken into and valuables worth more than RM10,000 were stolen.

NONE In Ipoh last night, thieves broke into the house of PKR’s Teja state assemblyperson Chang Lih Kang. This was the third time he has been robbed.

The constituency service centre of Batu Uban state representative V Raveentharan was broken into early this morning.

A monitor and central processing unit (CPU) were reported stolen.

According to Chang, the break-in at his house occurred between 8pm and 11pm yesterday while he was out with his family.

Upon checking, Chang said found that a telephone, branded pen, two bags and RM800 in cash belonging to his mother were missing. The total value of the items came up to about RM10,000, said Chang.

“This is the third time this has happened in three months. The first time was on Nov 27 last year,” he told Malaysiakini .

Chang, who lodged a police report soon after the incident, said he does not suspect the crimes were politically motivated.

Photographs, files lost

Raveentharan said the break-in at his office in Bayan Baru was discovered by his domestic helper when the latter arrived at 10 this morning.

The PKR assemblyperson ( left ) said he suspects the incident to have occurred either yesterday or the day before when there was no one around.

Checks at the premise found the lock on the grill door of the office - which had been replaced just five months earlier - had been broken by the robbers.

Other than the CPU and monitor, however, nothing else was touched.

Raveentharan lodged a police report earlier this afternoon.
