Copies of the sex video purportedly featuring Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim have been found scattered in Terengganu, in several areas where PKR aims to contest in the next general election.

The copies of the 22-minute video in compact disc format have been making rounds in Selangor, which is ruled by the opposition Pakatan Rakyat, where PKR holds 14 state seats, since last month.

NONE Dungun PKR division chief Abdul Rahman Yusof (right) told Malaysiakini that the CDs were left behind in the toilets of a number of petrol stations in oil palm plantations in the interior parts of the east coast state.

According to Abdul Rahman, the CDs were also found at petrol bunks in plantations owned by Lembaga Kemajuan Terengganu Tengah (Ketengah) in the Dungun, Kemaman dan Hulu Terengganu districts.

The first string of complaints came from Durian Mas in Dungun and Bukit Bading in Hulu Terengganu, the former Kemaman MP said.

Copies of the sex CDs have since emerged in Bukit Besi (Dungun), Jerangau (Hulu Terengganu), Chalok (Setiu) and Cheneh (Kemaman) as well - four of the state constituencies PKR is considering to contest in the next general election.

The distribution of the sex video comes at a time when Pakatan is struggling to hold on to its influence on Malay voters.

Battle for Malay votes

PKR and Pakatan are widely expected to face a tough battle in Selangor, the country's richest state, which is said to be the BN's highest priority for winning back in the next general election.

azlan Abdul Rahman said the sex CDs placed at the petrol stations were put in envelopes, with 20 CDs in each envelope.

"We are monitoring the extent of the CD distribution.

"We are asking all those who have come across the CDs to lodge police reports," he said, adding that he would be lodging a police report by the end of this week.

The video was first aired to selected members of the media at the Carcosa Seri Negara, an exclusive hotel in Kuala Lumpur, on March 21 by three individuals who called themselves ‘Datuk T'.

They subsequently revealed themselves to be former honorary Thai Consul in Langkawi Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, Risda chairperson and former Malacca chief minister Rahim Thamby Chik and former Perkasa treasurer Shuib Lazim.

Opposition MPs have blasted the authorities for refusing to act against the trio for screening and distributing pornographic material.
