Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan, has been described by a federal minister as more powerful than any of the Pakatan Rakyat elected legislators.

This, Agriculture and Agro-based Minister Noh Omar said today, follows the embracing of her suggestion that people wear yellow on weekends by most Pakatan MPs,.

NONE Mocking the move, Noh said it now appeared that Ambiga could assert great influence on the Pakatan MPs.

"It seems Ambiga is more powerful than any of the Pakatan MPs. For me, by asking MPs (to wear yellow) is deragatory to the lawmakers of today. There are many Pakatan MPs in Parliament.

"Being a legislator, there are many ways to express the eight points raised (by Bersih 2.0) if they are not happy. As MPs, that is their job, so what are they (Pakatan MPs) doing?" he asked.

Noh, who is also the Selangor Umno deputy liason chief, was asked to comment on Ambiga's call for the people wear anything yellow to show their continued support for the eight electoral reform demands of Bersih 2.0.

However Noh's statement today is in contrast with the views of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, who said opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim was the person who engineered the Bersih 2.0 gathering.

Najib was on July 10 reported to have said that the Bersih rally was Anwar's desperate attempt to manipulate the people to gain their support to become the next prime minister of the country.

Denied right to speak

Noh, who is also Umno Supreme Council member, was asked to comment over the suspension of two Selangor BN assemblypersons from attending the debate session yesterday after they were found to have violated the speaker's directive.

What is being displayed, Noh said, represented the "true democracy" practised by Pakatan, which initially was seen to upheld democracy and freedom of speech, but are now going back on their word.

NONE "Where is the democratic right they keep harping on, when BN assemblypersons are prohibited to speak up," he said.

Yesterday, it was reported that Selangor opposition leader, Mohamad Satim Diman ( left ), was asked to leave the August house after disputing the actions of Sekinchan assemblyperson Ng Suee Lim, in quoting a hadis (saying of the prophet) in his debate.

Meanwhile, Selangor Umno information chief Abdul Shukor Idrus, who is also Kuang assemblyperson, was also suspended for using the words and names of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and/or the Malay rulers in his debate.

He said the Selangor government is seen as stifling the right to freedom of speech accorded to BN as the opposition.
