Pakatan Rakyat is planning a ‘mega convention’ ahead of the looming general election and wants the government to allow it the use of Bukit Jalil Stadium for the event.

Revealing this after the Pakatan secretaries meeting this afternoon, PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali said the mega event is scheduled to be held on Nov 3.

“I think there is no excuse for the government not to give us Bukit Jalil Stadium. They have said repeatedly in the past if we organise our event in a stadium, they will grant us any stadium.

“If they don’t, then it would be a case of Janji Tidak Ditepati (Promises not fulfilled),” Mustafa told a press conference at the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

Bukit Jalil Stadium has been used by the government on several occasions as a platform for displaying political support for the ruling BN coalition.

Both the Umno anniversary gathering and the Merdeka Day bash took place at the venue, which drew more than 100,000 people.

Pakatan will also be holding Malaysia Day celebrations in Sabah on Sept 15 and in Sarawak on Sept 16.

NONE On a separate matter, Mustafa ( right ) shot down reports that PAS members allegedly aligned to PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim, dubbed ‘Anwarinas’ by Umno bloggers, were upset that rebel PAS member Nasharuddin Mat Isa was not sacked at the Syura Council meeting last Sunday.

“There is no such thing as Anwarinas, don’t be a disciple of that term,” he said.

Asked about his stance that Nasharuddin was left off the hook despite attacking Pakatan partner DAP, Mustafa said the statement was his personal opinion.

Nasharuddin has called on PAS to quit Pakatan Rakyat if DAP remained adamantly against hudud, when he was abroad with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

The move caused an uproar within PAS ranks but calls for him to be sacked fizzled out after the Syura Council declined to discuss the issue of Nasharuddin, who is a member of the council.
