PARLIAMENT The auditor-general has given the National Higher Education Loan Corporation (PTPTN) a clean bill of health, said Deputy Higher Education Minister Saifuddin Abdullah.

Replying to Nurul Izzah Anwar (PKR-Lembah Pantai), he said that this means that problems PTPTN had with its database must have been overcome.

saifuddin abdullah evidence act forum 2 “If we look at the Auditor-General's Report dated Aug 10, 2012, the report states that a ‘sijil bersih’ (clean bill) has been given to PTPTN.

“This shows that the problem raised by Lembah Pantai has been overcome well,” he said when winding up the committee-level debate on the Higher Education Ministry budget.

While he could not reply to Nurul Izzah's question in detail, he said that the certification should clear up all doubts.

“If there are things to be improved on, I am sure PTPTN will be able to address these concerns from time to time,” he said.

Nurul Izzah, while debating the budget, referred to a Malaysiakini report which cited sources as claiming that a significant portion of the RM45 billion approved loans were given to borrowers who can no longer be traced.
