DAP MP Anthony Loke was yesterday served with a court summons to be present at the Kuala Lumpur magistrate’s court on July 24 to be charged with contravening the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 (PAA).

NONE According to the summons, Loke ( right ) will be charged with contravening Section 15(3) of the Act on June 22 at Padang Merbok, Jalan Parlimen, Kuala Lumpur - the venue of the Kuala Lumpur leg of the Black 505 rallies.

PKR MP Rafizi Ramli, who co-organised the event said that he, too, will be facing the charge and will receive his summons tomorrow.

Loke is charged with not obtaining the permission of Padang Merbok's owner - Kuala Lumpur City Hall - for the rally as required by Dang Wangi OCPD ACP Zainuddin Ahmad.

He also faces an alternate charge that he and other co-organisers failed to give 10 days notice before the rally took place.

If convicted, both Loke and Rafizi can be fined up to RM10,000. They risk being disqualified as MPs if fined more than RM2,000.
