MUKTAMAR PAS' political cooperation with Pakatan Rakyat has provided more room for the Islamic party to spread the religion and its Youth wing hopes that one day, even DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng will embrace Islam.

"Our target is dakwah (spreading the message) so more people will understand Islam.

"I have a dream that one day Lim Guan Eng will recite the syahadah (Muslim declaration of faith)," said the wing's national unity director Afnan Hamimi.

Afnan was responding to issues raised by a delegate while debating the wing's 2012 annual report. 

Tebrau delegate Shamsul Bakri had called on more support for the PAS supporters youth wing, which is open to non-Muslims and expand their reach beyond Muslims.

To this, Afnan admitted that the supporters' wing has many committed and sincere members who have sacrificed much for "the struggle" despite not being Muslims.

Separately, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang in his message to the Youth wing reminded them that among Islam's greatest challenge today is "fake Muslims" or the munafiqin (hyprocrites).

He explained that these people "wear the mask of Islam" as a show but have "deviant" beliefs.

"The Islamic movement across generations have had to face this group and I urge the Youth to face them boldly and intelligently," he said.
