The much anticipated report of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on the National Feedlot Centre project has been delayed further because of concerns of sub judice.

NONE The report was not being tabled in the Dewan Rakyat as scheduled today because the PAC is still waiting for the green light from the speaker, its chairperson Nur Jazlan Mohamad ( centre in photo ) said.

He personally felt the report would not interfere with the ongoing court case, as the PAC proceedings on the matter were carried out last year as the case in court was going on.

However, he admitted that he is not a lawyer and that the speaker would be wiser on legal matters.

"The court case is ongoing, so to be safe, we have referred the matter to the speaker as he is boss of this place.

"As the report has to be tabled during the session, it can be tabled in the next two days or during the next sitting in March," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.

Nur Jazlan, who is also Pulai MP, said there are no external factors barring the tabling of the PAC report.

NONE "It will be tabled and is already ready for circulation," he said.

The project was awarded to the National Feedlot Corporation, a company run by the husband and children of then-cabinet minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil ( right ).

Shahrizat's husband Mohamad Salleh Ismail has been charged with criminal breach of trust.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in its 2012 report released in November noted that the National Feedlot Corporation had no experience and was of poor financial standing.

The MACC report also said the company, which obtained an RM250 million soft loan from the government, was awarded the deal through direct negotiations and without due diligence on the part of the government.
