MH370 Selangor Umno liaison chief Noh Omar has lambasted PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim for drawing comparisons between the federal government's handling of the MH370 crisis and the Japanese Red Army hostage crisis in 1975.

Noh said this is "tak munasabah (illogical)" because MH370 is still missing and authorities have yet to determine whether the plane was indeed hijacked.

"Anwar always makes illogical comparisons. The JRA crisis was something we could see in front of our eyes, but we still don't know what happened to MH370, so how can they compare (the two incidents)?" he asked.

Speaking to Malaysiakini at Hulu Langat Community College, Noh ( right ) said that Anwar only knows how to find fault and not find solutions.

Anwar had on the Kajang ceramah trail said that second prime minister Abdul Razak Hussein was internationally lauded for the government's handling of the hostage crisis while his son PM Najib Abdul Razak's administration is panned globally.

The 1975 hostage crisis saw the JRA taking more than 50 people hostage at the AIA building in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, where several embassies were located.

Negotiations were led by then Home Minister Ghazalie Shafie. The JRA demanded that the Japanese government release five of its members, which Japan eventually relented.

Malaysia Airlines MH370, which disappeared from air traffic controllers' radar screens on March 8 has been a hot topic during the course of the Kajang by-election campaign since nomination day last Tuesday. Polling day is on Sunday.

                

'BN has no part in phone hacking'

On March 11, PKR supporters raised a giant banner in a show of support for the 239 passenger and crew of MH370.

Its candidate Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has also consistently criticised the government's allegedly "inept" handling of the crisis.

While MCA president Liow Tiong Lai called for the issue not to be politicised, Umno-friendly bloggers have linked the crisis to Anwar, as pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah had reportedly attended Anwar's sodomy verdict hours before piloting MH370.

Pilot sabotage is an area under probe since authorities concluded that the Boeing 777-200ER's transponders were deliberately switched off before the plane was flown off course.

Besides that, BN has held several prayer sessions for MH370's crew and passengers while  Puteri Umno event yesterday featured a "tribute wall".

On a separate matter, Noh refuted claims that BN might be behind the hacking of 11 mobile telephones belonging to PKR leaders and campaigners.

He said that this is likely part of a PKR ploy to portray itself as victims and point the finger at the BN.

"I can also ask my boys to hack my phone and then cry foul. This is an old tactic. There is no reason for BN to hack the phones, what's so great about them that we need to do that?”
