BN strategic communications director Abdul Rahman Dahlan has been asked if the anonymous donor who allegedly donated RM2.6 billion into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's private bank accounts was a Jew.

PKR Youth national deputy chief Dr Afif Bahardin, who asked the question, further queried if this was the reason why Abdul Rahman and Umno were keeping the identity of the donor a secret.

"Abdul Rahman should reveal the identity of the donor behind the RM2.6 billion donations in Najib's private bank accounts. Is the person from Israel?

"Why keep the identity a secret if not? If you do not reveal it, we assume that the donor is a Jew," Afif told Malaysiakini .

Afif was referring to the revelation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission that the questionable RM2.6 billion was indeed transferred into Najib's accounts by an anonymous donor.

This was after Najib threatened to sue The Wall Street Journal which on July 3  reported that the money was deposited into his accounts before the 2013 national polls by companies linked to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Najib has since sacked former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin for questioning the 1MDB issue.

Former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail has also been dropped from his post while the police, claiming they acted on their own, have detained eight officials from the MACC.

Afif said Abdul Rahman has been going back on his position on political funding since assuming the coalition's strategic communications director post.

"Now, he says donations for political funding is okay. He appears to have a forked tongue, and is trying to manipulate matters to right what is obviously wrong," said the Penang executive councillor.

Abdul Rahman is also the Urban Wellbeing, Housing, and Local Government minister and MP from Kota Belud.

‘Country’s credibility affected’

Afif said the concerns of youths is not only the whopping RM2.6 billion secret donation in Najib's bank accounts but the impact it has on the credibility of the Malaysian government.

He added that the situation was worsened by the police's continued harassment against the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officials who are probing allegations linked to the 1Malaysian Development Berhad.

"Those who are detained and harassed are said to be detrimental to the country's parliamentary democracy.

"Najib is not the symbol of democracy. He is there because people appointed him," Afif said.

Afif said Abdul Rahman can continue to "spin" to salvage his position as a minister in Najib's administration or to show how patriotic he is to the country.

"But as someone who is younger than Abdul Rahman Dahlan, we show our patriotism by being concerned about what is happening to the country's institutions.

"We have to save this country. We have to know who will pay for the debts incurred by 1MDB and Umno.

"If Abdul Rahman is not worried, it is up to him. He can spin whatever he wants to maintain his post as minister but nobody believes him now as he is a clown," said Afif.
