Umno vice president Shafie Apdal said it is very easy to become a minister, all you have to do is be a yes man.
"(Say) yes boss. Confirm, menteri (minister)," he told delegates at the Parit Sulong Umno division annual meeting today.
Shafie said this while explaining that there were times to say yes and no.
"It's not that you can't say yes. Say yes if it is a good thing. I will say no if it is not a good thing.
"I don't say no because I have interest, if I had interest I would keep quiet," he said.
Shafie added it was important for leaders to voice out for the good of the people.
'We were not informed'
Shafie was recently sacked as rural and regional development minister in the recent cabinet reshuffle, allegedly because he was too vocal about 1MDB.
He still holds his post as Umno vice president, and has no plans to quit.
Meanwhile at a press conference after his speech, Shafie said he Umno supreme council had not been briefed about the RM2.6 billion donation into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's ( photo ) personal accounts.
"As far as I know, the meetings that I have attended, we were not informed. But the cabinet was told recently, in my last cabinet meeting," he told reporters.
The RM2.6 billion is said to have come from a secret Middle Eastern donor, before the 2013 general elections.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating the transfer, and plans to question Najib soon.
