Perak PAS wants Mujahid, Nizar to vacate MP, rep seats
The Perak PAS Liaison Committee meeting today unanimously urged Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin and Mujahid Yusof Rawa, who have joined Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) to resign from their posts in PAS.
Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria said Mujahid, who is Parit Buntar member of parliament, had been declared the Amanah vice-chairperson while Nizar, the Changkat Jering assemblyperson is Amanah central committee member and Perak Amanah deputy chairperson.
He said under the PAS constitution, membership in the party would cease and they must vacate or step down as elected representative if they joined another party, declared leaving the party or were sacked.
"They (Mujahid and Nizar) had contested in the 13th general election on PAS tickets, after being given the green light and approved by the PAS leadership.
"They had also signed an agreement with the Perak PAS and central liaison bodies that if they switched party or left the party, they should vacate or resign as elected representatives of the seats they had won," he said at a media conference in Ipoh today.
He said in a contract agreement or baiah, they had also vowed in the name of God that they would resign if they joined another party.
