DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang ran down MCA president Liow Tiong Lai and Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong for saying they did not know of the government's plan to put forward the motion on PAS president's Abdul Hadi Awang's private member bill.

"They are useless because even Sabah and Sarawak ministers said they knew," he said today.

Earlier today, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nancy Shukri implied she knew that the government planned to prioritise PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's private Member's Bill on Act 355.

Lim wondered if both MCA and Gerakan leaders had known about it beforehand.

The Sabah minister even wrote in to protest against the government's move one day before the motion was tabled in Parliament, he claimed.

"My hunch is they knew beforehand. I want them to state if they had prior knowledge,” he said adding that if they did, but pretended not to know about it, it would be highly irresponsible of them.

The fact that Umno had done this despite disapproval from 12 parties, had showed that BN had lost its spirit.

"It is better to dissolve the coalition," he added.

Liow, Mah and MIC president Dr S Subramaniam had threatened to resign over the Act 355 amendment bill, which if passed can pave the way for hudud in Kelantan. allow Kelantan to implement part of hudud law.

However, Hadi said the bill to amend Act 355 or Syariah Court (Criminal Juridiction) Act was not about hudud but to uplift the syariah court.

Lim also claimed that Amanah candidates Ahmad Termizi Ramli will not lose their deposits.

"I don't believe this will happen," he said after a walkabout with Termizi.

The Gelang Patah parliamentarian, however admited Amanah was the underdog, especially in Kuala Kangsar.

"Pakatan Rakyat couldn't took the seat at its peak, so we don't have the upper hand now.

"It will be a miracle for Amanah to win. If we cannot win, we should at least emerge second," he said.

"This is a battle between BN and Harapan," he said.
