Rafizi found guilty of breaching OSA, gets 18 months' jail

PKR's Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli was sentenced to 18 months in jail for breaching the Official Secrets Act (OSA) by publishing a sealed document, in his expose on the pensions of retired armed forces personnel.

He is appealing the verdict, which he said was unexpected, and added that he was fulfilling his duty as an elected representative to speak for the voiceless.

However, cabinet ministers Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Azalina Othman Said said Rafizi deserved the verdict as the law was clear about exposing classified documents.

MIC treasurer S Vell Paari also questioned how Rafizi got access to the classified document, which is part of the auditor-general's report on 1MDB.

Jho Low 1MDB gatekeeper, Singapore court told

Former BSI banker Yeo Jiawei told a Singapore court Penang-born businessman Jho Low was a "gatekeeper and adviser" to 1MDB.

Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua said Malaysia should learn from Singapore, which has prosecuted and convicted those involved in the 1MDB scandal.

Meanwhile, former Court of Appeal judge Mohd Hishamuddin Mohd Yunus said the attorney-general has the right to reject the Swiss mutual legal assistance request, but the claim that it would prejudice local investigations was baffling.

Jamal denies blaming cops for bloody nose

Red-shirts leader Jamal Md Yunos denied that he said "police punched me" after getting a bloody nose during a scuffle last Sunday, although he was heard saying so on video recordings of the incident.

A frame-by-frame analysis and slow motion video of the incident show a fist making contact with Jamal's face, knocking off his spectacles, before he emerged with blood on his nose.

Jamal accused PKR's Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin's followers of assaulting him, which prompted a letter of demand from the lawmaker.

He also offered a helicopter ride to journalists to expose the riches of a 28-year-old PKR Youth leader living in Ampang.
