Bersatu-Harapan tie-up options

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) said there will be four options on the table on possible co-operation with Pakatan Harapan, including for Bersatu to join the Harapan tripartite coalition.

However, Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir said it will not shut its door to PAS as it needs all opposition parties on board in the fight to topple BN in the 14the general election.

PKR, which joined a rally with PAS, Ikatan and Bersatu last night, said there is no cause for alarm about the parties speaking on the same stage.

Meanwhile, Selangor PKR Youth tells the state Amanah not to drag the state government into its disputes with PAS, following complaints that PAS representatives in government are sabotaging Amanah.

MCA gives Perlis rep warning over conversion enactment

MCA gave its Titi Tinggi assemblyperson Khaw Hock Kong a stern warning for failing to speak up against the Perlis lslamic enactment amendments to enable the unilateral conversion of minors.

This comes as Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian urges his state government to amend the Majlis Islam Sarawak Ordinance 2001, which allows the unilateral conversion of minors.

This is to match the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Amendment Bill 2016, tabled in Parliament on Nov 21, which aims to require both parents to consent to the conversion of minors to Islam.

Former de facto law minister Zaid Ibrahim urged MPs to support this amendment bill to ensure fairness for all.

Sultan concerned with large-scale corruption

Perak's Sultan Nazrin Shah raises concern over large-scale corruption, which he said have historically brought down governments.

Obtaining wealth through means forbidden in Islam is a form of cruelty, Sultan Nazrin said at the Perak level Maulidur Rasul celebration, which was also attended by the Perak executive council members.

Meanwhile, 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzman Shah is accorded a symbolic send-off upon completion of his reign as Agong.
