YOURSAY | 'If only Ibrahim Libya had surrendered, no one would have died.'

Hadi: Memali a misdeed against Islam by a former leader

Anonymous_1388029052: The police acted professionally in the Memali incident. The villagers were armed and behaving aggressively, thus the police had no choice but to act accordingly.

The government should have detained the present PAS president, Abdul Hadi Awang, for instigating the gullible villagers.

If people want to "defend Islam," they should learn to be creative and innovative, invent new products that are saleable and beneficial to the world. Then the world would be grateful to such Muslims.

Perak Boleh: Who and what started the incident? It is you, Hadi; your statement instigated a group of villagers that started attacking the police. The full responsibility must be held by you.

Repent before your heart stops, or you will be ashamed to face your Allah.

Goldee: Hadi is trying to run away from responsibility, blaming others for causing the conflict that broke out in Memali. Indeed, he himself was one of the instigators who had caused the fighting in Memali.

If only Ibrahim Libya and his supporters had not listened to your call and had surrendered, no one would have died. So you are partly to blame.

Justice Wah: The 'Amanat Hadi' was speaking of "holy war" and "martyrdom." And Umno under Prime Minister Najib Razak now supports Hadi. And still, MCA, Gerakan and MIC want to go along with Umno.

Truly a very strange, weird ‘perjuangan’ (struggle) by MCA, Gerakan and MIC in support of Hadi's ‘amanat’ for holy war and martyrdom.

Can they now explain their stand?

Vgeorgemy: The brand of politics that supports an armed uprising against a constitutional democracy would not guarantee the rakyat's fundamental rights enshrined in our beloved constitution.

Does it mean that Pusat Islam agrees with Hadi's assertion that this fringe group has the right to armed uprising in the name of Islam?

Ib: Isn't Memali an earlier version of what we see from Islamic State (IS) today? Fighting for an Islamic state at the expense of innocent lives? And who started this, again?

Vijay47: Hadi, there is a news item here in Malaysiakini about Muslim insurgents in Myanmar attacking police posts and 32 persons dying in the process.

Is this also another effort in defending the sanctity of Islam in Hadi's view? The Myanmar police should have also kept quiet, like what you say the Malaysian authorities should have done in Memali?

Anonymous_3e21: If your intention was to attack former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and to support your MO1 (Malaysian Official 1) friend using Memali, then you are really a sick person.

You should be more concerned about the current daily sufferings we Malaysians have to endure due to MO1.

Furthermore, what have you done to help those Memali folk? All I can see is that the ulama are driving big branded cars, even to the extent of flying first class, while those Memali folk are still struggling, like the rest of us.

While those PAS members in Memali had followed your ‘amanat’ wholeheartedly, believing the true enemy of Islam was Umno, you, in the end, did a 180-degree turn by embracing Umno now.

Remember it is Umno that is responsible for the Memali incident, not Mahathir as an individual, and the irony is you are now trying very hard to portray that MO1 is an angel.

Hadi: Those who listened to 'amanat' in full apologised to me

Léon Moch: For many decades since the ‘Amanat Hadi’, many communities have split up and families have been broken due to their interpretation of the ‘amanat’.

This has been well-publicised over the years, but Hadi has never come out to tell them that their interpretation is wrong and that he had never meant it the way he saw it to be.

Today, many decades later, he announces that those who interpreted it as a divisive and seditious message have misunderstood it completely.

At best, this means that he has been irresponsible and could not be bothered to correct the misperception of his message. At worst, he has been condoning and encouraging the divisive effects of his message.

Until he hopped into bed with Umno, that is. It appears to be no coincidence that he chose to speak up only now.

Vgeorgemy: Hadi, this is the beauty of a constitutional democracy. It recognises "everyone can have his own opinion, but not his own facts." Under such dogma, we differ with you on ‘Amanat Hadi’.

Jaguh: Those who believe in Hadi are weak and hopeless. Hadi, you are like the Taliban, and through your ‘amanat’, it can be viewed you have encouraged terrorism under the guise of Islam.

Salleh: Ask for Memali RCI in right context, send formal requests

Anonymous 601731444366344: The statement by Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak, "More importantly, the government will look at this proposal in depth once we get a memorandum from those concerned, including PAS," stinks of collusion with PAS.

What about 1MDB?

Anonymous #74021261: Yes, please tell us how one should go about making a formal request for an RCI on 1MDB.

Anonymous 601731444366344: Can we submit for an RCI on Sabah too, as to how a state that's so rich in resources has been plundered and remains so badly developed?
