Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali has revealed that her husband, former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, has forbidden her from wearing a headscarf.

"I think you are asking the wrong person. I don't wear tudung (headscarf) until today.

"My husband forbids me from wearing tudung. Before one wears tudung, she must ask for her husband's permission.

"I wanted (to wear a headscarf) to ambil berkat (receive blessings) after I returned from Mecca. So I wore tudung (but) he turned his face away," she told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today...
