Najib rips 'fantasy economics' of alternative budget

In a thinly veiled attack against the federal opposition, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said there are those who have produced an alternative budget with “gaping holes” and "fantasy economics" that would make Malaysia unsafe, unsecure, and unstable.

While highlighting the government’s track record, he warned there are “others” who make promises to Malaysians but who have no track record of their own, and are only interested in their political ambitions.

“There are others who would make all sorts of promises to you. But firstly, they have no track record.

“They just oppose, even when they secretly agree with a proposal – because they are not concerned about the welfare of the Malaysian people. No. They are only concerned with their own selfish political ambitions.

“Secondly, unfortunately they cannot add up. They produced a shadow budget with gaping holes in it. Their fantasy economics would make Malaysia unsafe, unsecure and unstable....
