Sabah, S'wak to regain equal partner status

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Putrajaya will restore Sabah and Sarawak's equal partner status.

Earlier in the day, eight student activists were arrested during a peaceful rally to mark Malaysia Day.

Deputy Home Minister Azis Jamman said the protest was unnecessary while Amanah condemend the arrests.

Umno ties cap off PAS muktamar 

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang ended the party's 64th muktamar by buttering up members to the prospect of further cooperation with Umno.

Deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the party must be the "lifebuoy" to save Umno from evil ways

PAS delegates voted to reject the United Examination Certification (UEC) of Chinese independent high schools.

After a membership roll clean-up, the party found itself with almost 80,000 members less.

Veterans group Patriot exchanged fire with PAS over military-like ceremonial uniforms used worn during the opening of the muktamar on Saturday.
