PKR POLLS | PKR members who want to vote at a different branch from their own can do so but must fill up Form 11 so that the issue of phantom voters does not arise, said the party’s Central Elections Committee chairperson Rashid Din.

He said their votes would be kept separately and they would be classified as dubious voters.

“The form will be sent to us and if we find their names are not in the membership list, their votes will be rejected,” he told Bernama.

He was responding to claims by Rawang assemblyman Gan Pei Nei, who is vying for the Selayang division chief post, that there were phantom voters in its elections.

Gan later lodged a police report on the matter.

Meanwhile, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said Sarawak PKR’s demand that he resign for poor performance was uncalled for, saying he had explained in detail on the spike in membership in the Julau division.

In Petaling Jaya, a group of PKR members from the Johor Bharu division turned up at the party headquarters to demand that sterner action be taken against Johor Bahru MP Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir for allegedly flouting election rules.

Their spokesman Richard Tan Wuu Chyau said they were unhappy that he was let off with just a warning.

Akmal had been accused by fellow contender Tan of “coaching” members on voting day. He has since denied the allegation.

Meanwhile, Xavier Jayakumar who is vying for the vice-president post said he was still confident of winning even though there were attempts to topple him.

The party’s Complaints and Appeals Committee had issued the Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister a warning letter following complaints made against him by party members, however Jayakumar denied receiving any such letter and slammed those who were responsible for spreading such news.
