PAS orders full turnout at anti-Icerd rally

Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali warned that Malays will go "amok" if their rights are trampled on.

He also complained that there were "too many" Indian representatives in the government.

Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said police will investigate Ibrahim's statements.

He also revealed that the cabinet had decided to allow the use of the Sedition Act 1948 in relation to the riots last week at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Subang Jaya.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan ordered its members to ensure "maximum turnout" at the Dec 8 rally to protest against the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Icerd).

 Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng accused the opposition of staging rallies because they are "out of issues".

MCA wants BN dissolved

The MCA annual general assembly approved a resolution calling for the dissolution of BN and the formation of a new coalition.

Some delegates staged a walkout as they had favoured a motion for MCA to quit BN instead of waiting for its dissolution.

 

Outgoing MCA president Liow Tiong Lai, in a tearful farewell message, urged the party to unite.

Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad, while launching the Bersatu chapter in Sarawak, admitted that his party was a racial one but said it did not mean Bersatu was against other races.

Sarawak DAP welcomed Bersatu's entry into the state, stating that this would encourage Putrajaya to be more mindful of Sarawak's interests.

Tabung Haji reportedly cooked its books

Lembaga Tabung Haji reportedly cooked its books in order to justify a high dividend payout ahead of the 14th general election.

Umno Youth stressed that one is innocent until proven guilty after one of its party leaders was implicated by Tabung Haji for allegedly misusing Tabung Haji’s funds for political purposes.

Tabung Haji assured depositors that their funds are safe despite the police reports it has lodged against its former leaders.

DAP lawmaker Lim Lip Eng said 1MDB should learn from Felda Global Ventures, which has also lodged complaints against its former executive in a bid to recover its funds.

Pasir Pinji assemblyperson Howard Lee was elected as the new DAP Youth chief.

The wing, at its congress, also called for laws against party-hopping to stop Umno members from crossing over to Pakatan Harapan.

Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said a new law is being drafted to govern the construction of houses of worship.

Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said a law to curb food wastage is also in the works.

Johor opposition leader Hasni Mohammad returned his allowances in protest after the state government allegedly refused to fully recognise his position.

Looking ahead

The Dewan Rakyat sitting resumes while the Dewan Negara will also convene, marking the first day of concurrent sittings in this session.

The Federal Court will decide on the Jasin election petition.

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be attending the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation.
