'Attack police station' - cops to probe Azwanddin for criminal intimidation

Azwanddin Hamzah's inflammatory speech at a rally yesterday, which included threats to attack the Klang police station, may land him in trouble as cops are now investigating him for criminal intimidation.
Selangor CID chief Fadzil Ahmat told Malaysiakini that police have opened an investigation on the president of Jaringan Melayu Malaysia under Section 506 of the Penal Code which deals with criminal intimidation.
"Police have opened an investigation on him under Section 506," said Fadzil in a reply to a text message.
During a rally organised by Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Geras) in Klang yesterday, Azwanddin delivered a fiery speech during which he called Minister in the Prime Minister's Department P Waythamoorthy the P-word which is deemed derogatory to Indians.
He then went on to threaten an attack on the Klang police station if the authorities did not arrest the perpetrators of last month riots near the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in USJ25, Selangor.
Abu Bakar Mohamed, president of Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Geras), the organisers of the rally, had disagreed with Azwanddin and said he was upset that he did not comply with the conditions to speak at the event.
In a Facebook posting today, Azwanddin was unrepentant of his remarks.
"If there are groups that don't agree with my vocalness and sternness, that is not a problem because I am confident there are more Malays and Muslims who support me to defend Malays and Muslims.
"I do this not for personal interest even though there is a huge risk to myself and my family, but this is the struggle for race and religion demanded by the children and generations to come," he said.
Yesterday's rally was to demand justice for the slain firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim who succumbed recently to injuries sustained after being assaulted by rioters near the temple.
Authorities said that Adib was dragged out from his vehicle by rioters and beaten. He suffered broken ribs and multiple organ failures.
Adib showed a slight improvement during the treatment at the National Heart Centre but his condition worsened and he died on Dec 17.
