PM: Gov't will study proposal for RCI on judiciary
The government will study a proposal to form a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the judiciary, said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"I am not in the position to say anything. If there will be an RCI, we will study the proposal first," Mahathir said briefly at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

He said this when asked about the call from Court of Appeal judge Hamid Sultan Abu Backer for an RCI to probe claims of judicial interference and misconduct.
In an affidavit yesterday, Hamid had made several allegations of interference, and even detailed a scam involving politicians, the private sector and judges to swindle public funds.
He said he is willing to reveal more if an RCI is formed to look into the matter, but expressed regret that Chief Justice Richard Malanjum is not seeking an RCI.
His affidavit was supporting lawyer Sangeet Kaur Deo's application to declare that the chief justice failed to defend the integrity and credibility of the judiciary over two alleged incidents of judicial interference.
